Palm Springs Outdoor Activities

Outdoor Activities

Boasting more than 360 days of sun a year – another way to look at it is just four days of rain each year – Palm Springs offers an exhilarating range of outdoor adventures.

Plan a sunset horseback riding tour or ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to marvel at the majestic desert below – this is also where you’ll find some of the coolest temperatures in Palm Springs. Another way to beat the desert heat is to take the kids to Knott’s Soak City Palm Springs water park. If you love hiking and mountain biking, the Coachella Valley’s canyons and hiking trails have much to offer bikers and hikers of all skill levels.

If you’re still on the lookout for ways to soak up the Palm Springs sun, here are a few of our favorite outdoor activities:

  • Let our concierge arrange tee times for you or your group at one of the championship golf courses in the area
  • If tennis is your game, tennis courts and lessons are only a few minutes away
  • Swim a few laps at the Palm Springs Swim Center
  • Take a rock climbing class at Joshua Tree National Park
  • Visit Big League Dreams Baseball Park Cathedral City to play ball in scaled-down replicas of Boston’s Fenway Park, New York’s Yankee Stadium and Chicago’s Wrigley Field

Coyote Ridge Stable
Coyote Ridge Stable has been in business for over 15 years and is owned and operated by Sue Lund and Sally Ellis, who, along with several of the horses, volunteer their time with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Mounted Search and Rescue. Our guided trail rides take you through the canyons of Morongo Valley, with beautiful views of the San Gorgonio mountains and Mt. San Jacinto. At 3,200 ft. elevation, our mountainous terrain offers abundant wildlife and plant species. Experience magnificent golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, and kestrels soaring high above, or perhaps see coyote pups at play and listen to coveys of Gambel's quail chirping under the cover of creosote bushes.
